Tadashi Wakashima (1952- ) is Professor Emeritus of English (Kyoto University), the current president of the Nabokov Society of Japan, and chair of the Kyoto Reading Circle. He is a chess problem composer and International Master in solving chess problems. He has written books on Nabokov (Lolita, Lolita, Lolita) and other modern and contemporary writers. He has also translated Lolita, Ada, Speak, Memory, The Original of Laura, and The Defense, and co-translated Transparent Things, The Nabokov-Wilson Letters, and The Stories of Vladimir Nabokov into Japanese.
