"The Expected Stress Did Not Come": A Note on "Father’s Butterflies"
Abstract
An explanation of the policy of non-annotation of Nabokov texts in Nabokov's Butterflies, and an attempt to discuss the teasing ending of "Fathers Butterflies," the continuation of Dar/The Gift, and its Pushkinian and perhaps even Joycean resonances.
To be read in conjunction with Gennady Barabtarlo and Brian Boyd, "'He Said--I Said': An Afternote," immediately following this note.
