What does everyone think of the new Vintage International edition covers for a few VN books, attached? I've seen them in bookstores already. Overall I'm not that impressed. I guess I'm glad they reverted to The Defense. Lolita has a new introduction too, which I'm also not that impressed by.

I think they're visually…
I think they're visually appealing (love the colours of the Pale Fire cover) but have a contemporary feel which I don't quite think works with Nabokov. It's easy to put a butterfly motif on a VN cover and call it a day. I love the Penguin Modern Classics versions of the major VN works - the covers all depict zoomed-in areas of Meredith Frampton paintings which I hope is a subtle nod to how most of the major English works are connected through characters and locations!
