Re: SIGHTING: Signs & Symbols in New Yorker story

theoretically, it could have been good or even great but was awful, but was
also instantly suspect, yet to be fair, giving it a read to see what was
up, one then wonders at that magazine even publishing it

same magazine that published VN??? they don't even get the story or images
(e.g., reclining man viewed from window, elbows up) (its images inseparable
from everything else about the story, the *writing*)

snapshot:

"Across the narrow yard where the rain tinkled in the dark against some
battered ash cans, windows were blandly alight and in one of them a
blacktrousered man with his bare elbows raised could be seen lying supine
on a untidy bed."
