1. It may be of interest to e-readers that Sergei Davydov has published a
Russian article "Chto delat' s "Darom" V. Nabokova?" (What Is to Be Done
with Nabokov's "Gift") in an unlikely place entitled Obshchestvennaia
Mysl': Izsledovaniia i publikatsii [Social Thought: Research and
Publications], Issue 4, Moscow, Nauka Publishing House, 1993 (pp.59-75). GB

2. A second important Russian publication on THE GIFT has come to my
attention. The _Izvestiia Akademii nauk_ Seriia literatury i iazyka Vol.
54, #3, 1995, pp. 3-18 carried the first half of a long article on THE
GIFT by Iu. D. Apresian, a major figure in Russian semiotic studies. The
second half of that article may now be found in issue #4, pp. 16-22. The
article surveys a wide range of GIFT scholarship and offers Apresian's
own analysis.
