EDITORIAL NOTE. Nassim Berdjis <nwberdjis@ucdavis.edu>, author of a
forthcoming book on Nabokov, offers the following "finding aid" to
Nabokov references in Donald Harington's novel _EKATERINA_. The novel,
among much else, is a parodic inversion of the "Lolita" theme. Harington,
best known as the author of several novels set in the semi-mythical Ozark
hamlet of "Stay More," is a vocal admirer of Nabokov's writing. Clarence
Brown's review of EKATERINA may be found in issue #1 (1994) of NABOKOV
STUDIES.

As the NABOKV-L preview of the World Wide Web Nabokov page listed the opening
chapters of Donald Harington's novel EKATERINA (New York: Harcourt-Brace,
1993), I will not include quotations from the novel in this message.
The following list provides page numbers of Nabokov references and
allusions in the novel: 7, 42, 60 (anagrams), 81, 83, 92 (allusion to
Speak, Memory ?), 102, 105, 109, 132, 134, 142-43, 157, 180, 184
(Webster's 2nd), 197 (Webster's 2nd), 213, 222, 228 (ending of Dar),
231, 233, 236-37, 259, 305, 306, 346, 350, 355, 356, 359, 365, 373.
I hope that these page numbers will be of help for those who want to
quickly locate the Nabokov allusions in the novel.
