EDITOR'S ANNOUNCEMENT. Subject: THE SHORT STORIES OF VLADIMIR
NABOKOV, by Roy Johnson [roy.johnson@mcr1.geonet.de]
1) NABOKV-L is initiating a new weekly "series." Roy Johnson, a British
Nabokovian, has written a work entitled _The Short Stories of Vladimir
Nabokov_. Dr. Johnson has generously offered to run his unpublished
manuscript in short installments on NABOKV-L. The series will open with a
brief synopsis of the book and some introductory material. After this,
NABOKV-L will carry the author's discussion of a new story each week.
All of the stories that have appeared in English will be covered.
2) Each posting will have an E-mail subject heading such as RJ:Bachmann,
or RJ:Fialta, which will serve as the reference for all subsequent
discussion by net readers. The stories will be presented in approximate
chronological order and each posting will conclude with the title of the
next story/installment so that subscribers may read the story in advance,
and, if they wish, be prepared to offer their own views. The opening story
discussion will on the 1924 "A Matter of Chance," i.e., RJ:Chance.
3) Reader responses intended for all NABOKV-L subscribers should be
addressed to NABOKV-L@UCSBVM.UCSB.EDU; responses intended only for Roy
Johnson should go to roy.johnson@mcr1.geonet.de. If a subscriber wishes to
obtain the whole manuscript, she or he should contact Dr. Roy Johnson
directly.
4) This introductory posting will be immediately followed by the
"Synopsis" and the Author's Introduction.
