In response to Marianne Cotugno's query, Robert Cook <rcook@rhi.hi.is>
suggests:
William Anderson has some brief but interesting remarks on Rita in his
article on "Time and Memory in Nabokov's Lolita," Centennial Review 24
(1980), 360-383, especially page 379. Humbert's women (Annabel, Monique,
Valeria, Charlotte, Dolores, Rita) is one of the paper topics I suggested
to my students here at the University of Iceland, but alas there were no
takers. I'm sure a good essay could be written on it.
