I wonder if the list could answer this question; that is, if has not
already been answered and I just missed it. I don't recall seeing it in
Boyd.
In N.'s Reply to my Critics, early on, he says: "I shall also ignore
some of the slapstick--such as a little item in The New Republic (3
April 1965) which begins, 'Inspector Nabokov has revisited the scene of
the crime in L'affaire Oneguine' and is prompted by a sordid little
grudge of which the editor, presumably, had no knowledge." I have
always wondered who he was referring to and what it was all about.
Anyone know?
