I wonder if anybody can tell me whether Soviet films
were shown in Berlin in the mid-20s and if they were, whether VN ever had
any interest in them. I will greatly appreciate any hints on this subject.

EDITOR's COMMENT. The answer is yes. It is very likely that VN saw, inter
alia, the Soviet silent film "Chess Fever". See the note by Charles Nicol
in THE NABOKOVIAN XXVII, pp. 40-42. I think that Alfred Appel queried VN
about the subject in prearing his _Nabokov's Dark Cinema_ which mentioned
many Soviet films.
