Dear Professor Johnson,
My name is Bob Bettendorf (I'm using my girlfriend's e-mail account for
the time being because mine is out of service.) I'm writing a master's
thesis on Nabokov and have lost a reference. Nabokov or a critic refers
somewhere to his or one of his character's "ironization of excessive
emotion" (this may be only a near-quote). I badly need to track this
quote down and any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
