EDITOR's NOTE. I did see some discussion of the music in the soundtrack of
the Lyne-Schiff LOLITA. I think, but am not certain, that it might have
been in the interview with Stephen Schiff by Suellen Stringer-Hye on
ZEMBLA

It will be difficult to improve on the soundtrack of the 1962 Kubrick
film (one of the few features of that film that cannot be questioned).
The main theme - by Nelson Riddle, if I recall correctly - is
particularly poignant and haunting. And the adolescent "La-la,
la-la-la-la" music that played while a free Humbert drove to camp to
pick up Dolly, was also effective. One mistake, among many, that Kubrick
made was "modernizing" the film to have an early 1960s feel. Hopefully,
Adrian Lynne returned the new film to the late 1940s, where it belongs.
The soundtrack should reflect that. Hey, if they at least release the
soundtrack, perhaps they can make back some of their colossal investment
while the film itself is held hostage! ;-)
