In the Book Review section of today's Los Angeles Times, under the listings for
current bestsellers, for sales in southern California, number ten on the rankings
of paperbacks is our dear beloved child, "Lolita" (with the bemusing synopsis:
"Old guy falls for young girl" - a bit like summarizing "Anna Karenina" as:
"Family feuds in tsarist Russia"). Whatever else one may say about Adrian Lyne's
film, it has rekindled interest in the book - and that, certainly, is for the
best.
