Editor's Note: Rowohlt Nabokov Edition
Date
Body
I was once again reminded of the virtues of Dieter Zimmer's German edition
of Nabokov oeuvre. The editorial apparatus that accompanies the texts can
be extremely useful. For example: I was just laboriously doing a
line-by-line comparison of a section of VN's autobiography in its Russian
and last English version. The two versions have substantial and sometimes
important differences. The comparison can be much simplified by checking
Zimmer's annotations to _Erinerung, sprich_ in which he systematically
reports each difference in the two texts (together with much else).
