Speaking of Nabokov and movies, it's pretty telling that in "American
Beauty", the teenage object of affection is named "Angela Hays". Also, that
voiceover narration at the beginning, presaging the death of the key
character stuck out. The writer of this movie must have paid pretty close
attention to "Lolita", because there are both obvious and subtle references.
