Published in today's issue of the "Neue Zuercher Zeitung": the German
translation of a short Russian poem by VN written in 1965 at St. Moritz, the
fancy Swiss resort in the Grison mountains. (Translation Christoph Ferber).
A rough English translation might read as follows:
"Facing the pine-tree woods in this country below the mountains' ermine the
dragging shame of my life might be easier to bear; my life might be more
monotonous albeit more honourable; however I would be a mere hotel dweller with
no lot in eternity."
