The actress and singer Jane Birkin was chosen for the closing ceremony at the
28th International Film Festival in São Paulo on November 4,2004. Jane Birkin
will sing with musicians Amel Riahi El Mansouri, Fred Maggi, Aziz Boularoug and
Djamel Benyelles various musics written by Gainsbourg, such as "Valse de Melody"
, "Amours des Feintes",and "La Javanaise". The show was organized by the Office
of French Music, the French Embassy in Brasil and the SESC-SP working together
with the 28 a MOSTRA BR DE CINEMA.
The "Jornal da Mostra" offered high lights of Jane Birkin´s career which started
as the blonde in Antonioni´s movie "Blow Up". She later married musician
Gainsbourg and together they produced the hit "Je t'aime Moi Non Plus" (1969)
that was later turned into a movie with the same title, after which she
abandoned acting to concentrate on singing.
Her " Lolita Go Home" in 1975 was another hit.
In 1981, Birkin left Gainsbourg and married Jacques Doillon, director of La
Fille Prodigue (1981) and La Pirate (1984). Gainsbourg was discreet about his
suffering but made a confession of it in the songs"Baby Alone in Babylone" and
"Les Dessous Chics", both of which will be performed in São Paulo tomorrow.
