Dear Tom: I award you Pun-of-the-Month Prize, twice. I would go further
and
claim to know SFA (SWEET Foucault) about Foucault -- apart from a
swinging
vote for Umberto Eco's eponymous PENDULUM.
BTW: SFA has acquired another, uncannily appropriate interpretation:
Scottish Football Association.
There is a VN connection, dear Editors. A recent Times (the London
original)
article in the Sports section asked what the following "slebs" [celebs]
had
in common:
Che Guevara, Vladimir Nabokov, Albert Camus, Pope J-P II, and Gordon
Banks
Banks, of course, gave the game [sic] away: all had performed as
goal-keepers, noble gardiens du filet, in the still-beautiful global
obsession.
Alas, my copy of the newspaper was recycled rather too greenily -- I'll
try
and google it since it gave several VN quotes germane to his sporting
days.
