If it weren't for the caption, I for one would not have guessed it is
supposed to represent VN. There is no likeness at all, and I have a
fair
idea on which picture it is based. Having myself done a portrait of VN
and,
coincidentally, of Salman Rushdie as well back in the eighties, the
heavy-lidded somnolent eyes did not bring to mind the latter writer,
amusing
though the evocation is.
