Dear Aleksey,
You're right that I haven't yet read the Gift or those short stories.
Blenda>Belinda! thanks - - that may push some ideas along, although I admit
the only other Belinda that springs to mind is from the beautiful Dido &
Aeneas by Purcell - - now who wrote the libretto? Not Pope, I'm sure.
Probably Dryden.
