VN on translation

And yet, despite VN's various negative thought about translated
poetry, even the possibility of truly translating poetry age
still arriving at a poem in translation, while preserving
its essential meaning (I'll let the mort clever define
'meaning' here, and if they still feel vigorous, define
'essential'), nevertheless, I find that he thought well
of Donne's translation of the Latin poem 'Hortus' into
English, despite some word substitutions therein. Poets
may fit, even if nasturtiums often don't, or whatever.
