Sorry if I've missed a relevant posting, but I thought we should note &
treasure the date January 30th*, just rolled by. That day in 1865 saw the
birth in the village of Shklov of Evsei Lazarevich Slonim, father of Vera,
father-in-law of Vladimir Nabokov, and grandfather of Dmitri. To whom-all:
Pokhvala! Slava!
* Yes, I'm re-reading Stacy Schiff's VERA (Portrait of a Marriage). Careful
not to believe everything!
