Carolyn: I take ³accidential² as portmanteau for ³essential accidental.²
We mathematicians prefer ³martingales² to ³nightingales²:
Martingale (probability theory), a stochastic process in which the
conditional expectation of the next value, given the current and preceding
values, is the current value
