Perhaps this has been noticed before, but there is another allusion, albeit
wordless, to Nabokov in another film by Woody Allen, *Love and Death* (1975),
with Diane Keaton, which is a comical take on 19th century Russian novels
like Dostoevsky's and Tolstoy's . In one scene Allen is seen carrying a
butterfly net and a butterfly collection under his arms. You can watch the

The scene starts at about 13 minutes and 52 seconds, just before Allen's
character gets into the coach.
