Mr. Friedlander is a skilled photographer, and I like his photos, but I wish
he had used color film in more than a few of them. Dr. Edward Allen
included *The Annotated Lolita *in the required reading list of his
graduate-level course "Novels of the American Road" at the University of
South Dakota in the 1990s, along with Least Heat-Moon's *Blue Highways, *
Steinbeck's* Travels With Charley, *and of course Kerouac's *On The Road.*
