“Almost Completed but Only Partly Corrected”: Enacting Revision in Nabokov
Abstract
Susan Elizabeth Sweeney (College of the Holy Cross) examines the revising practice at work in Nabokov’s process of creation. She considered the various versions, revisions, additions, self-translations with modifications that not only mark Nabokov’s works in their making, but are also thematically reflected in his fictional worlds, as most of his novels, in fact, present themselves as manuscripts still being composed by a first-person narrator.
