Nabokov, Time and Timelessness: A Reply to Martin Hägglund
Abstract
A response to Martin Hägglund's "Chronophilia: Nabokov and the Time of Desire" (the preceding essay in this issue of New Literary History), showing that his charge that critics, especially Boyd, foisted on Nabokov a desire to transcend time that was not his own contradicts ample evidence in Nabokov and fails to understand his complex attitudes to time.
