Bibliography: On VN

This site contains a bibliography of works on Nabokov critical, biographical, scientific, and more, including theses as well as published material. (For bibliography of all works by Nabokov, go here.) For material that has appeared on the Nabokv-L listserv or on its continuations on this website, which will not be listed in the secondary bibliography, use the website's Search page.

To find a specific entry within the secondary bibliographic (published work and theses), use the site's Search function (above, right). To limit search to bibliography only, on the Search page, click Advanced Search and under "Only of the type(s)" check "Bibliographic entry". You can also browse the entire collection of bibliographic entries, or list them by author (for example, Gennady Barabtarlo), by publisher (for example, Princeton University Press), or by publication year (for example, 1977).

You are all encouraged to revise, update and expand our bibliographic collection! Add your own works if they are missing (but first check Search to make sure they are not already there).

You can edit any bibliographic entry, if you are logged in. On a page of an individual entry (such as this one; from a list, click on an entry's details link to go to its page), click on the Edit tab (the pencil icon that will appear at top right, level with the Author field, if you move your cursor there) and make the necessary corrections in title, authors, publishers, etc. Then, click Save at the bottom before exiting. You can also provide an abstract, add to the comments, add/edit tags, or even add the work itself as an attachment (provided you're not infringing on copyright).

If you want to add a new bibliographic entry, first use Search to make sure it's not in our database already. Then, if you're logged in, go to the Add content page, choose Bibliography item, fill in the relevant fields, then click Save. Important tips: In the add entry window, put the title of the article or book in the Bibliographic Title field (the next field below Author); then, after inputting other data in the appropriate fields, you need to add something in the Title field second from the bottom. We would like this format: Author surname, Author firstname (and, if appropriate: comma, ed) and period. Title (of article or book), period. Year of publication. This will be what displays in the title field (it automatically converts to capitals) when a user clicks on this item’s details link.

Please refer (and add) to this page for the current tasks to do, questions to resolve, and general guidelines.
