EDITOR'S NOTE. NABOKV-L thanks Jonathan Thomas <THOMASJN@bcvms.bc.edu>=20
for the item below which truly strains credulity.=20

------------------ For those interested in another television reference to
Nabokov, I have the following. A couple of weeks ago as the credits
rolled for that weeks episode of the sitcom Roseanne, a conversation began
among a group of men sitting around the table playing poker. The
conversation began by one of the poker players offering his opinion about
Martha Graham as a choreographer. The discussion went around the table
with differing opinions being offered by each man at the table about
various choreographers and dance companies, with the next to the last man
describing Mummenschanz at the perfect blend of theater and dance. This
prompted the last man at the talbe to describe them as the perfect example
of =93Nabokovian artifice=94.=20

To say that my jaw dropped would be an understatement. Are there more
Nabokovians hiding out there than we think?=20
