EDITOR'S NOTE. I am forwarding this call for papers since the
relationship between Nabokov's Russian poetry and prose is a subject of
great interest. Please reply directly to Ms. Dinega whose address is below.

Call for papers for National AATSEEL Conference 1996 Panel: "GENERIC
INTERSECTIONS: POETS IN PROSE AND PROSE WRITERS IN POETRY IN RUSSIAN
LITERATURE. I welcome submissions of paper proposals that fall into this
category. Especially welcome are proposals that emphasize issues of GENRE that
are central to the panel's theme. For example, why did the author in question
choose prose in certain cases, poetry in others? Does he/she express similar
ideas and themes in both genres? Do his/her poetry and prose complement, or
contradict each other, or both, and how? Also of interest would be papers that
compare and contrast the phenomenon of the poet-prozaik in Russian literature
with the equivalent one in other world literatures.

Please send proposals to: Alyssa Dinega, Panel Chair
1404 Commonwealth Ave., #20
Brighton, MA 02135.
