EDITOR'S NOTE. Apart from the AMERLOCKS "translation" pointed out below,
it has also been suggested that VN's favorite H.G. Well's "Morlocks" may
also be involved. They are the underground toilers in Well's time travel
tale with the possible implication of "redneck" or "rabble."
