Demon Veen and Bryusov's Fiery Angel

It belatedly occurs to me that Bryusov is the author of Ognennyi angel ("The Fiery Angel," 1907), a novel set in Middle Ages but based on real events. Its three main characters are Count Heinrich (Andrey Bely), Renata (Nina Petrovskaya) and Ruprecht (Bryusov). Khodasevich speaks of this novel in his article Konets Renaty ("The End of Renata") included in Necropolis (1939). In the same article he mentions Zhena oblechyonnaya v solntse (a woman clothed with the sun): L. D. Blok with whom Bely was in love. Bely meaning "white," one is reminded of Whitehorse/Belokonsk ("a ballet company whose services Scotty had engaged, bringing the Russians all the way in two sleeping cars from Belokonsk, Western Estoty:" 1.2) and the Helmeted Angel of the Yukonsk Ikon whose magic effect was said to change anemic blond maidens into konskie deti, freckled red-haired lads, children of the Sun Horse (3.5).
