A friend pointed out that the new movie about Nick Cave (critically
acclaimed Australian musician and songwriter, among other
professional roles), as reviewed in the New York Times,
includes this detail:
"Reflecting on his childhood artistic inclinations, Mr. Cave
suggests that his father’s reading him the first chapter of “Lolita” helped set him on his
path." (Review by Stephen
Holden,

During our discussion, I noticed that the film's title, "20,000
Days on Earth," sounds like an echo of Fyodor Godunov-Cherdyntsev's
gratitude for the 10,000 days (gifts) bestowed upon him up to that
day in the novel. The Times calls the film, which depicts a
recreation of the 20,000th day of Mr. Cave's life, "a fusion of
documentary and drama".
