Dear past, current, and future Members of the Vladimir Nabokov Society:

There have been only positive responses to the proposal to elect Zoran Kuzmanovich to the post of Vice President by acclamation; therefore, I hereby proclaim Zoran to be the next Vice President of the Society, while Leland de la Durantaye, our current Vice President, will move into the post of President on January 1st, 2014.

As those of you who receive The Nabokovian may have already noticed, Stephen Jan Parker is retiring and has edited the final issue of his stewardship of that journal. Many of us had some of our first publications in The Nabokovian, and the scholarly community owes a debt of gratitude to Steve for his founding of the journal and his 34 years of unflinching service to the field.  For the 2014 membership year, I will take over the duties of editing The Nabokovian, and per the Society Board of Directors' wishes, it will most likely become primarily or entirely an on-line publication in 2015, after one more year (2014) in print.  I will also be serving as the Society's interim treasurer for at least the first part of 2014.  Look in January for the opportunity to join the society, or renew memberships, through an on-line payment system such as Paypal or Amazon.

The Board expects also to expand its membership by at least one member; details on that process will follow soon.

I am grateful to Zoran, Leland, and the other Board members for their diligent work on this transition.  The Society is entering a new era, and I think we can expect many good things to come of it as we continue to pursue our goal: a lively and productive community of scholars working to understand and appreciate Vladimir Nabokov's art.

Congratulations!

Stephen Blackwell
