In Henry IV, part one, Hotspur says:
By heaven, methinks it were an easy leap
To pluck bright honour from the pale-faced moon,
Or dive into the bottom of the deep,
Where fathom-line could never touch the ground,
And pluck up drowned honour by the locks. (1.3)
Could this be a link or bobolink to Pale Fire's title? Fire/sun (as
represented by Hotspur, the speaker), moon, and ocean; all the errant
theives are there. Prince Hal, Hotspur's mirror, is a thief, as well.
I have searched the internet for a discussion on this topic and have
found none. Any help?
