Today (April 12) marks the 70th Birthday of Evgeny Belodubrovsky, a
tireless Nabokophile and autodidact scholar living in St. Petersburg,
and an occasional NAB-L contributor. He first learned of Nabokov in
the apartment of the Leningrad sculptor Leonid Abramovich Mess. Among
many other accomplishments, he discovered the copy-edits from Nabokov's
first book of poems, "Stikhi" ["Poems"] of 1916, with five additional
poems; republished the collection Two Paths (Dva puti)
that Nabokov issued together with A. Balashov in 1918; and first
discovered the issue of the Tenishev journal Young Thought (Iunaia
mysl') with Nabokov's poems and his translation of Alfred de
Musset's "December Night." Evgeny Borisovich has assisted many
Nabokovians (including yours truly) with their research during visits
to the Nabokov Museum. С днем рождения!
