I don't know Eugene Onegin by heart, but I
always thought that the word samovar (Russian tea
machine mentioned in Ada, 1.2 and 1.14, according to Boyd,
merely "for local color") occurs more than once in it. In one of my previous
posts I brought up one samovar scene in EO. Here is another:
Зовут соседа к самовару,
А Дуня разливает чай
the neighbor [Lensky] is invited to the
samovar,
and who but Dunya pours the tea (Chapter Two, XII,
9-10).
I notice that the orthography in my recent
posts is poor. The misspelled words should be corrected to "speech,"
"callipygian." The sentences that don't make sense should be
omitted...
