But one Carolyn or someone argue that Sybil is reborn through Queen Disa--according the split personality theory wouldn't she represent the tenderness Shade felt for Sybil exiled to dreams of guilt; doesn't he in fact bring up Disa in connection with Shade's description of Sybil's intact beauty after all their years together? Paraphrasing, I believe Kinbote notes that Sybil does not look in real life as Shade subjectively feels, but that, transiting back to himself and Zembla, Disa really does look that beautiful.
