Dear List,
I am currently working on „Mashenka“, and I was wondering, if
anybody has noticed yet the parallels between the emigre pension
and the soviet kommunalka. Perhaps it is more than pure
coincidence? Does anybody know, if there is any evidence that
Nabokov was aware of the existence of the „achievements“ of
communal living in the Soviet Union by the time he wrote the novel?
Thanks in advance for any information on that topic,
kind regards,
Ulrike Goldschweer (Bochum / Germany)
