I've received a number of postings responding to Schneider's "review"
of Lolita. I am not going to forward them, because it seems to
me that the best place for such responses is on the blog site itself,
if it accepts comments; I do not believe that Ms. Schneider is a NAB-L
subscriber. I think most readers here will agree that the review does
not reflect a very careful or deep reading of Lolita, and its
superficiality doesn't really earn it any attention on the list--unless
we want to analyze it as a pop-culture reflection of Nabokov's art.
Remember, please, that many of these "submissions" are merely found
things, out in the world--not statements made directly to this
readership. Our general policy is not to post expressions of disgust
with or objection to the content of such found items.
