Without condoning the McFate/Sapone subterfuges reported, may I, as an NRA member object to the false pro-gun/anti-gun dichotomy implied? Putting the NRA and a "Movement Against Handgun Violence" on opposite sides of the fence suggests that we in the NRA are actively promoting Handgun Violence. This is not the forum to re-hash the 2nd Amendment (the right to arm bears as some wits put it) or list the number of lives saved by legal weapons (or lost in their absence), except to mention some  facts relevant to Nabokov's life and travails: the early acts of dictators such as Hitler and Stalin in disarming their citizenry. Some of us honestly believe (with the Founding Fathers) that a rogue, usurping US gvt should have more trouble rounding up Jews and dissenters.

PS: Ubiquitous, unstoppable commercial espionage comes in all shapes and disguises. Only naïve organisations are unprepared and _shocked_ when "infiltrated." I personally know of NRA members who "report back" to anti-NRA colleagues. There's hardly anything to "hide" these days from the big-wide-eyed web.
