and at one point that famous opening line is directly paraphrased. The
narrator, however, is gay, and his name - Gus Ashbrook - is a clear
reference to that other famous tale of obsession, DEATH IN VENICE.
Nicco is not underage, but Gus seems almost to consider that he is at
times. Fairly sexually explicit.
