John A. Rea: "...despite VN's
various negative thought about translated poetry... I find that he thought well
of Donne's translation of the Latin poem 'Hortus' into
English, despite some
word substitutions therein. Poets may fit, even if nasturtiums often
don't, or whatever."
Jansy: I wonder
about what VN thought of Chapman's Homer ( made lightly in PF), or
Dryden's Aeneid...Perhaps you could post VN's comments about Donne's
"Hortus" ( or a reference since I cannot remember reading them.)
