Re Question 3, the migration of a character from one novel/story to another has been dealt with exhaustively in Pekka Tammi's PROBLEMS OF NABOKOV's POETICS (Helsinki 1985), "Migration of C-Agents" pp. 346-349. Mr. Tammi, to whom I owe my copy of this invaluable book, detects 9 instances.

As an answer to 3. The fictitious philosopher Delalande appears in The Gift and in the preface to Invitation to a Beheading. Podtyagin is a character in Mary and is mentioned in The Gift. Vivian Darkbloom appears in Lolita and is the author of the "Notes to Ada". In Ada, Ada translates the works of John Shade into French and Russian.

3. Am I right in thinking Pnin's appearance in /Pale Fire/ is the
only time a character from one Nabokov story appears in another?
(As a character, not a hurricane or gitanilla.)
