I may be wrong, but I think you are the first person, Susan, who has expressed agreement with what I have been trying to say. I may be dreaming. The fault for any lack of clarity is mine; the examples you adduce are right on target. I guess my additional, in fact, my original point was simply that swoon should not be translated as a noun indicating an article of clothing such as a sweater or a bathing suit. But never having translated anything other than the swirling demonic voices in my brain into demotic Detroit, I will be silent on that subject.
