A correction concerning the "Jaseur"
(waxwing). Their garrulousness ( an unreliable "jaseur") must be
typical of all three Bombycillidae
species. Apparently the bird named after
John Shade's ornithologist father must have been of the Bombycilla
cedrorum species, perhaps less "garrulous" than Kinbote going for walks
or writing his commentary from a "Cedarn cave"..:
Obtained at the French Wikipedia:
Bombycilla garrulus ( "Jaseus boréal"
or Bohmenian Waxwing); Bombycilla cedrorum ( "Jaseur d' Amérique" or
Cedar Waxwing) and Bombycilla japonica ("Jaseur du Japon" or Japanese
Waxwing).
