Dear Don,

A few tidbits while I'm thinking of them:

I think looking for pre-echoes of the Lichberg flap in "Osberg" is stretching things a bit.

There was of course the Alfa Romeo Giulia, a family of cars very popular in the 60s. I had  two, one of them a very special and very rare Giulia Tubolare Zagato or GTZ with space frame (hence "tubolare," for the chassis tubing) hand-built at a small military and radar shop on Lake Trasimeno in Umbria), and an aluminum body made to measure for me by the illustrious coachbuilder Zagato -- the only example of that model with two roof bulges, a style applied by Zagato to a few special Ferraris, Lancias and Fiats as well, and destined to remain his hallmark. In my case it was dictated by the need to fit into the car with a crash helmet. Sorry -- I'm getting carried away by my recollections of those splendid years, including my discovery of the wonders of Umbria while waiting three days for the shop to rebuild my chassis after a racing incident; I did find, in the Perugia museum, some reproductions for my father's projected book on butterflies in art, and he did follow all these adventures with fascination, knew all the names, and on occasion made use of them. Are there no motorheads among all the delightful members of the List?

I've been busy rescuing 47 Bol'shaia Morskaia and helping prepare for publication a complete Russian "Nabokov's Theatre," so I  may have missed something: has Gerald Emerald been remembered in the discussion of the color green? I also have some things to say, another time, about blue, a color that was very special for VN.

With warm greetings,

Dmitri

Dear Don,
I resend this. I think this is the one I have not seen. Thank you for running the other one (query: Bellino's article).
Best, Akiko

Don,
I just meant: In HP's nightmare, Julia Moore and Armande appear as Giulia Romeo, the dream name of the hooker HP met in Ch. 6. Armande, Julia and Giulia are mingled there for the first time, but Giulia and Armande have been secretly linked to each other by the color of repitle green, the color of ink shown through the hooker's (Giulia's) handbag and that of Armande's skis.

Best, Akiko
