interesting note by Mikhail Grobman recounts how he came to learn of VN in
1959 in Russia long before his emigration to Israel. Most piquant is that
after his emigration, Soviet authorities would not let his Nabokov volumes be
shipped to him FROM the USSR. He later had a couple of phone
conversations with VN and an exchange of
