François Rochaix is on all fronts.
Tuesday, it inaugurates Expo.02 with a spectacle open on
the History and its myths, before going back itself some
to Geneva where, as from next July, it will take the
head of the Theatre of Carouge succeeding George Wod
thus.
The French director (59 years) will thus
hold, for six years, the reins of the scene carougeoise
which is not unknown for him, since he was the general
manager of 1975 to 1981.
Its first season,
presented at the beginning of May with the press, is
placed under the sign of the adventure. In other words,
it takes the broad one, as the poster testifies some to
the program with its catamaran splitting the waves. As
testifies to them also these some words to Rochaix: "I
wish to embark the public for several voyages through
time and space".
Cape thus on Russia, principal
richness of this season. With the country of Tchekhov,
that Rochaix knows y well to have worked, the setters in
scene! s are many and talented. The director of Carouge
invited one of them, Roman Kozak, which will introduce
"to Hé the girls, your man is there!", according to a
text of the writer Ludmilla Petrouchevskaïa (of February
4 at April 13).
A reinvigorating wind of youth
Of Russia also reaches us a comedy of
Vladimir Nabokov, "the Event", that Rochaix will create
itself, in Russian, with the actors of the Muscovite
theatre Ecole of the Contemporary Drama (February
25 - March 9).
Some jumps of borders, and
here us are at Shakespeare which one will see, in the
setting in scene of Rochaix always, "Antoine and
Cléopâtre" (of March 18 at April 20). Faithful to the
musical theatre that it always appreciated, the Master
of the places will propose, moreover, with his public
two works sung in English: "Savitri" of Gustav Holst and
"Disorder in Tahiti" of Leonard Bernstein (of October 29
at November 10.
A reinvigorating wind of youth
will blow finally on Carouge with two very awaited
spectacles of the French Domenica Pitoiset and
Switzerland Denis Maillefer. The two directors, among
most endowed with the moment, will respectively create
"the Sanctimonious hypocrite" of Molière (of November 19
at December 22) and "th! e descent of Orphée", works
little known of Tennessee Williams (of January 7 at
February 9)
