Dear Jansy,

Not angry at all. It's VN's attitude toward John Ray, that's all. As you say, he's a typical example of the institutional psychiatrists and social workers of the day.

Bruce Stone's article is available on the net, but was too detailed for me to follow. He, and he is not alone in this, finds John Ray to play a more important role in Lolita than I had surmised. Further than that I can not go.
